June 4, 1983
As discussed in the first entry of my BLOG, I started painting by copying posters and paintings of others. For the next few weeks, I drew by memory, my favorites.
My memory inspired by Mary Ellen's painting.

(It was very unusual to draw this many on a single group day. I can not figure out what was going on this day. There are two dated 11-18-82 but that was not a group day.)

Spectator's at the Kiss of Two Butterfly's

Rainbow

(This was Mary Ellen's picture. She waited in the waiting room while we met in the group room. She would draw, too.)

Dear Mommie
November 20, 1982
(This is a letter Mary Ellen wrote to me. In the 3rd grade, she was harrassed by the father of her best friend. Afraid to tell anyone, she spent the entire year unable to sleep alone. This was the biggest family crisis we ever faced. I did not mind her sleeping with me at all, but knew she had to be able to sleep alone. She was in private therapy that whole year, until she finally broke her silence. Within two weeks, she and the family were back to normal. Poor little girl, she had all the support in the world. I was a very open and liberal Mom and could and would have helped her, but she choose to suffer in silence, but it was not from a lack of trying on our part.)

our friend, Brinda Baxley
me
my daughter, Mary Ellen
and I'm still here.
(struggling with the need, want or desire to have a man in my life)
(both had grape abhors)
(Just before the 1st day of 1st grade, my daughter fell off her bike and had to start school with a large scuffed cheek. She was worried but of course, everything worked out just fine.)
